Clean Modern Lines (7)
This garden features a square stone sitting wall that helps create separate rooms in a yard that was an empty swath of dead lawn before. Bamboo softens the fences, with a hot tub nestled in the conrner. -
Wildflower Wedding (10)
Only 3 months before a wedding at their house, I was called in to work on this garden. Trees and shrubs were already in, but everything else was a blank slate. Focusing on seasonal wildflower color, and soft, undulating native sods we created a beautiful, bee friendly, drought tolerant yard, just in time for a May wedding! -
Elegant Patio Garden (6)
Barbara and Stephen really wanted a place to host guests. The primary focus of this design was smoothly integrating and balancing the new flagstone patio, the new deck, and the lush sense of greenery they were still hoping to achieve. -
Lawn Alternative (5)
This front lawn was in terrible shape. We removed it, tended to the soil, and planted plugs of drought tolerant California Natives. One year later, we have a beautiful, evergreen habitat. A lawn alternative such as this can be the beginning of an amazing native bee, bird, and butterfly oasis. -
Sloped Meadow (6)
This hot, west facing slope was difficult for the owner to deal with. Rather than terrace it, as some suggested, we planted tough, sun loving perennials in a dense pattern, allowing her the lush, wild landscape she was looking for at much less expense. Within in a year, the affects you see here were achieved. The garden is dense, colorful, and full of life. -
Meditative Japanese Garden (5)
Pam was very interested in having a calm, zen-like retreat. The space is intimate, only 20’deep and 50’ wide. As such, one of our primary goals was to create a sense of depth, which we did by creating views and destinations. -
Napa Townhouse Courtyard (3)
This small courtyard in Napa was originally just a concrete path with some shrubs and a tree in the planting area. George and Liz wanted an attractive, welcoming space for visitors that featured a wider path, as well as a beautiful viewing garden to look at from their kitchen window.
